New & Improved

Here’s a quick overview of some of the things we’ve improved.

Radiant Manager

  • Fixed a Windows crash some users experienced shortly after launch.
  • Workflows: Addresses cases where workflow updates via Radiant Manager didn’t reflect inside Radiant until reinstall.

Application & UX

  • Quit confirmation: When closing Radiant Photo 2 from the window close button or system menu with files loaded, you’ll see a save/quit dialog so edits aren’t lost.
  • Crop behavior: If you crop and then switch images (e.g., via the filmstrip), Radiant now applies the crop before switching..
  • Black & White tool ergonomics: The shortcut “B” toggles the Black & White group open/closed.
  • Black & White tool is now selectable when making a custom Workspace and appears after Selective Color as expected.
  • UI Collision: Fixed a text overlap in the Black & White Workspace selector on some displays.

Plugins

  • Faster Photoshop plug-in launches and reduced relaunch delays across sessions; especially improved when additional Workflow packs are installed. Start-up and plug-in launch time optimizations (Windows and macOS), with better behavior after the first run in a session. Note: The very first launch after a full system reboot may still be slower than subsequent launches.
  • Apple Photos (macOS) Support: New companion plug-in “Radiant2Photos” is included for Apple Photos users. (See here for more – https://manual.radiantimaginglabs.com/1/en/topic/using-radiant-photo-with-photos-for-macos)
  • Lightroom Classic (Radiant2LR): Click the gear icon to choose the“Keep plug-in running” preference to reduce repeated relaunch time during batch edits. We’ve improved it by also adding a Quit/close prompts that mirror the desktop app when files are open and unsaved.

Presets, Develop Collections & Workflows

  • Default settings selection is more consistent across scenes, including Auto Radiant.
  • Preset creation & management: Pressing Enter now confirms creating a new Develop Collection (consistent with other dialogs).
  • Develop Collection Names: Clearer behavior when attempting to create a Develop Collection with a duplicate name under a different scene.
  • Custom Settings Disappeared: Fixed an issue where custom preset names could disappear after switching photos immediately after saving.
  • *Saving a Preset Crash: *Fixed a crash some users saw when saving a preset.
  • Workflows visibility & activation: Fixed an issue where activated Workflows (Landscape, Birds, Portrait, Pets) could fail to appear in Radiant Photo even after successful activation/update in Radiant Manager.
  • Auto Radiant Scene duplicates: Removed duplicate preset sets that could appear in Auto Radiant when content was installed across multiple scenes.
  • Fixed a UI quirk where a **closed Workflow widget could jump position when switching images.

Export & Import

  • Last Location: Import and Export dialogs now remember their last locations independently for smoother preset workflows.
  • Export sizing: The “12 megapixels” option now displays correctly.
  • Custom Height/Width: Fixed an issue in non-English locales where Custom Height/Width wasn’t applied.
  • Custom Size: Fixed an issue where the Custom size field could appear greyed-out when reopening Export Settings.

Metadata & Sidecars

  • Windows EXIF display: Corrected missing/zeroed fields (aperture, shutter speed, focal length, exposure comp) for certain RAW files (e.g., Nikon, Panasonic, Olympus).
  • Sidecar persistence: The Develop Exponential slider value now saves correctly to sidecars and restores as expected.

Session & History

  • Reopen All Photos from Last Session now correctly restores images after completing a batch export and choosing Close Photos.

Localization

  • Apply Crop: Restored localization for Apply Crop in non-English languages.

How to Update

If an update is available, the Radiant Manager should open and prompt you to update your software. Up to once a day, your plugin will check in to our website to see if an update is available. If there is, the Radiant Manager will launch, and you’ll be prompted to run the update.

The Radiant Manager is the fastest and easiest way to keep your application up to date. Updates can include enhancements and bug fixes, as well as new features. Just follow the on-screen instructions.

Tip: Make sure to quit any host applications such as Photoshop or Lightroom Classic as well as Radiant Photo 2 when running an update.
