While most photo editing applications offer simple presets, Radiant Photo 2 is significantly different. The use of Develop Settings can contain responsive commands that react to each image and refine it towards target amounts. Additionally, custom develop settings are associated with a scene detection model within the Workflow. This way, a more tailored setting can be loaded and respond to the active image.
Designing Responsive Develop Settings
Ideally, you should rely on smart tools to do the heavy lifting when designing a custom develop setting.
- Use the Smart Editing tools for Enhance, Color, and Skin Tone to make the primary adjustments as they are adaptive. For example, the same setting can darken an overexposed image, brighten an underexposed image, and leave a correctly exposed photo alone. This is because the tools work by assigning a target to them.
- Additionally, you can use a target Low, Medium, or High for the Exposure tool.
- Many tools can also react to what an image needs, so the slider values are more a representation of what amount of the recommended value you want to use.
- If using Color Cast Removal, set all values to 0 when saving a preset so the effect triggers an automatic evaluation of the photo.
- The Noise and Tint Correction tools will be skipped if the problem is absent.
Saving a custom Develop Setting
Storing a custom Develop Settings is easy. Use an existing one and customize the controls, or start from scratch. Once the sliders match your preferences, it’s time to create a new Develop Settings preset. Consider using options like the Automatic Strength Selection and Face Aware Exposure options to make a saved setting more useful.
- Edit a photo to taste using the Smart Editing and standard editing controls.
- At the bottom of the Adjustment controls, click the Save preset button to save the current settings as a new Develop Setting. A new window opens.
- Choose from any of the loaded develop collection groups. Only the currently active workspace groups are shown, and a corresponding My Group is shown for each scene.
- Enter a custom name (or choose an existing one) and give it a descriptive name that’s easy to understand. Very long names may be cut off in the panel.
- You can enter a description of the preset to help you choose it in the future.
- Click Save to store the new preset.
You’ll now see that develop setting in the Develop Collections section in the left panel. It would be in a My Group associated with the active scene, or a related group if you chose a different destination when saving.
Additional management controls are under the More menus ( … ) for the Develop Collections panel and next to each setting.
